Why Black Creek Adirondack Chairs are Built with African Mahogany:

We construct our Adirondack Chairs from African mahogany because of its elegant appearance, excellent weight-to-strength ratio, and natural oil content. (The natural oil content of African mahogany makes it virtually indestructible to rot and decay.) The lumber is also kiln-dried; therefore, it will not split or crack over time like treated lumber and other less expensive wood.

Over time as natural mahogany is exposed to the elements, its color gradually changes to a light gray. This transformation does not affect the durability of the chair or the wood itself. However, if you want to maintain the original color of your Adirondack Chair, you may choose to apply a coat of furniture oil (such as linseed oil) twice a year, or simply store your chair indoors to protect it from the elements.
